Can anyone tell me where "Newbury Marsh" is/was in the Kingsclere area? All I know is that in 1842 it was: west of the road from Kingsclere to Newbury south of a pond called Marsh Pond east of land that belonged to the trustees of Highams Charity If anyone has got an ancestor called Catherine Bew from Kingsclere? I may have a couple of interesting snippets for you. Regards Ron Challis
The opionion in the Village is that Newbury Marsh you mention was also known as Kingsclere Marsh. This was situated where the houses in Wellmans Meadow have been built. It is something of amusement to the older residents that expensive executive houses were built upon marshland.
