GIRDLER is a name strongly established in the Kingsclere area. My own Smith family have links. A copy of Australian Convict Index 1788-1868 GIrdler names from the Ancestry.com site in case anybody is searching for them. 1) Henry Girdler c 1751, Year 1790, Trial Reading, Berks, State NSW, Ship Neptune. IGI has a baptism to Henry and Ann G 25 Jun 1751 St Mary Reading. 2) George Girdler c 1839 Year 1863 Trial Winchester, Hants, State WA, Status U, Ship Racehorse, Comments To London 5.1.1878, Occupation Labourer IGI has a baptism 02 Aug 1840 to George and Elizabeth G at All Saints, Crondall, Hants. The family is in the 1851 census. So I don't think either of them were Kingsclere born but might be part of the wider GIrdler tree for a Kingsclere Gi(u)rdler researcher. Regards, Nigel Gerdes
