Hope this will be of interest to someone. Denis
Hello Denis & List You said: "I cannot find a Louisa ROLFE born UXBRIDGE [Yiewsley Reg. Dist.] on the G.R.O. Indexes between 1851/1853". I have found the birth of a Louisa ROLF registered July-September quarter 1854, Uxbridge Registration District, Vol 3a, Page 12. Hope this helps. I know the subject is wrong as this email refers to Charles & Mary Ann but I think I have sorted him out 1861 Census: Elliot Row, Islington: Charles Rolfe, head. 27, fruiterer & greengrocer, Kingsclere Mary A, wife, 28, , City of London Elizabeth, dau, 2, , Islington Emily, dau, 7 mths, , Islington Henry Rolfe, brother, 14, servant (porter), Kingsclere Marriages Dec 1857: Grabham Mary Ann Bell & Rolfe Charles, Islington 1b 288 The only Charles with a brother Henry is the one born about Oct 1831 to Samuel & Hannah Fisher and his half-brother Henry was born to Samuel and his second wife Sarah Thorn about Feb 1847. Henry later married a Lucy Thorn from Kintbury. I don't know if she was relationed to Henry's mother who came from Welford. But as Dennis mentioned to me in a direct email there was yet another Charles born in 1833/4 to John Rolfe & Mary Farmer. Is he the 31 year old shoemaker born Kingsclere living in St. Mary Bourne in 1861 with wife Selina age 26 and children Joseph age 3 & James age1, all born St. Mary Bourne ??? (more children given in 1871 Census) FreeBMD doesn't seem to have the marriage and there is no IGI batch for St. Mary Bourne to let me search for any Selinas. None of the ages given in the various Censuses match birth dates of these Charles very closely and I thought this Charles was going to turn out to be the Charles I have referred to above but having a brother Henry made me think again. -- John Lewis Debian (Sid) with the GeneWeb genealogy package
