I have just followed up on George Stevens who was born in East Woodhay ca 1795 to William Stevens and Mitchell Cooper who married there in 1788. George lived until the 1891 Census when he was recorded, in household of a grand-daughter Mary Ann and her second husband and family, aged 97 a retired coal miner. He had moved to Derbyshire before the 1881 Census, presumably after his wife died. FreeBMD has Deaths Mar 1873: TAYLOR Mary 75, Kingsclere 2c 143 although this would make her born ca 1798 rather than 1796. FreeBMD has Deaths Mar 1892: Taylor George 98, Burton 6b 320, Burton on Trent RD covers Newhall where George was living in 1891 I suspect Mary Ann is a daughter of David Stephens/Stevens and Elizabeth who were married before 1842 and were recorded with 5 children at St Pancras in 1861. -- John Lewis Debian Linux with Geneweb genealogy application
