    3. Hi John (and Kingsclere Listers who might be able to help) One slight error in that the Bulkeley family lived in Knightsbridge House, on the Hampshire/Berkshire border about 3 miles from Kingsclere towards Newbury. The birth records for Nora and Ida are availble from British Columbia Vital Indexes http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-B00F82/gbsearch/Births . You can purchase copies of their birth certificates which are emailed to you almost immediately. This would give you their parents names and also the fathers occupation and possibly his place of birth. They were born in Nanaimo, which is on Vancouver Island. The family are tracable through the census's although the spelling of the name varies slightly. 1851 - lived in South parade, Chelsea. Edward - born London - c1804 Mary - born Essex - c1805 Several children, Edward, George, Joseph and Thomas. Edward was born in Huton, Essex in 1834. To find the parnets marriage you will have to find it in the Essex Parish registers. In 1861 the Mary together with Thomas were living in Field gate, Kingsclere. No sign of husband Edward or other children. In 1871 Mary with son George and others in East Woodhay. In 1881 back in Kingsclere - with son Joseph a farmer. I have copied this to the Kingsclere Rootsweb list. I bet others will be able to help you futher. I have a small twiglet on my website at http://startx.co.uk:2317/Kingsclere?m=NG&n=Bulkely&t=N Edward Bulkley having been Vicar of Kingsclere Woodlands from 186ish - 1902 -- John Lewis Debian Linux with Geneweb genealogy application

    3. John, I have been 'sleuthing' in FreeBMD and have found a Kingsclere death registration 2Q 1862 for an Edward BULKLEY. Any trace of a burial in the parish? Every record I have found uses that spelling for the Kingsclere Woodlands family + connections. Dorothy J.

Thomas Alfred Bulkley married Annette Barton MAGUIRE in Chelsea RD Sep Qtr 1867. and in 1871 Census he is living at Oakley Villa, Brimpton with wife and two daughters Helen age 2 and Mabel age 1 both daus born East Indies. These children fit with the Annette M age 23 and Helen M 21 living with grandmother Mary at Knightsbridge House in 1891. So that leaves the two Canadian born children to find parents for. In 1881 there is a nephew Wilford W Bulkley age 6 born Vancouver Island in Edwards household at Woodlands Vicarage. I found a Wilford Bulkley born Hants ca 1805 who married a Mary and had 5 children including a Wilford Willoughby born ca1835 who married Emily Simes in Pancras RD Dec Qtr 1859. Wilford & Emily are living in St. Pancras in 1861 but I haven't found them in 1871 so did they emigrate to Canada and are the parents of Wilford, Ida and Nora? the 1841 Census has Edward senior's occupation as 'Army Service' so it may be possible to find some service records for this family. -- John Lewis Debian Linux with Geneweb genealogy application
