    3. Hi list, I am hoping some one can help point me in the right direction on several points. I am trying to find out why a child's birth was registered in Kingsclere to a woman who has no kingsclere connections whatsoever. Alice Louisa Hayter was born London 1897 (Registered in Kingsclere). daughter of Sarah Jane Hayter and Lord ? Cabinet secetary to the Prime minister Marquis of Salisbury 3rd term. Sarah Jane born 1879 Moredon Wiltshire gave Alice to be adopted by Mary and Joseph Butler, of Kingsclere. Mary was a Monthly nurse. Sarahs Parents were Fanny Hurd born Crockerton Chapelry Warminster (1846) and her Father was Albert Hayter born at Longford Salisbury (Castle)(1846) Alice is in the Butler's household census 1901, but i cannot fathom out how they would have come by the child in the first place, or is there a local Lord to Kingsclere that was a civil servant at the time of Lord Salisbury's goverment (Possible Father) and could the Butlers have been employees in some way, and how would I find that out Alice went on to marry Charles oliver Lovelock brother of two of my Gt Uncles by marriage.
