In my experience of Wills, the legal bods were usually pretty accurate when describing locations so I feel much happier knowing that is confirmed. Now just to find out whether it was one and the same as the one we walked by yesterday? It was a nice friendly looking building so I hope so. Ann

    3. Hi Ann Using Hannah Swait, Tanhouse - shopkeeper, found her on 1861 census. Going to the enumerators description for Kingsclere district 7 he starts at Beenham Court and finishes at Headley via Holdop Farm, Tan House and Mill Green. It was on the Headley to Ashford Hill road just before the stream crossing. www.old-maps.co.uk Headley, Berkshire - co-ordinates 452600, 162600 you will find Tan House and Tan House Farm. 1871 census actually names Tan House - forwarded page off list Peter G
