You even know he had two wives and Sarah was his second. I would suggest you continue to discuss Franklin/Cummins on the Kingsclere list as the area covered includes the villages of Burghclere and Ecchinswell and there are lots of folk who can help because they have the PRs on microform. Even if there is family in Berkshire we have Berkshire Burial Index CDs so having to consult PRs at a record office is last resort. If your Franklin family does come from Ecchinswell, (a beautiful village in wonderful countryside) the earliest record looks to be about 1525 so you might end up with a huge tree and a lot of very interesting wills. I would guess all the many many Frankin in Basingstoke come from the Ecchinswell root. There were other Franklins in Burghclere in 1780s. Take a look at John Lewis' website and type the surname Franklin. http://startx.co.uk/Kingsclere Your info will help those with an interest in what became of Sarah Cummins as there are several Cummins researchers on the list so do tell us more if you wish.
