Hello Listers At this happy time of the year I have to bring you sad tidings that Robert Legg, ex vicar of Kingsclere and list member, died on Thursday 19th December. While his body has been failing his mind has been as busy as ever with historical research and he was thrilled when earlier in the year he was able to visit the Tidgrove site and view the remains of Henry II's "travel lodge" thus confirming his long held belief that Freemantle was there and not on Cottington Hill. http://www.kingsclere.org.uk/digit.html I am, personally, grateful to him for all the information he has supplied for inclusion on the Kingsclere web pages. The funeral will be on Thursday 3rd January in Whitchurch, Hampshire at 2pm.
