After her death > George Martin married Caroline Huntly on 16 Jun 1855 (FreeBMD 2Q > Kingsclere 2c 337). I found the marriage of John Collins & Maria Martin in the Hants Marr Index at Burghclere on 8 May 1830, John was buried at Burghclere on 1 Aug 1832 age 24. I have checked the Burghclere BTs and there are no Collins or Dennis baptisms there. However the 1851 Census indicates that Maria was born ca1809 in Burghclere. 1808 is missing from the BTs, so I wonder if she was born in Newtown or Ecchinswell since both are only "just down the road". Something else for me to check tomorrow. > Could Mary Andrews nee Woodhouse be the daughter of Issac Woodhouse > and Sarah Woodhouse nee Martin? If so she was baptised 19 May 1781 > at St Marys, Kingsclere. > Does anybody have the Mary Woodhouse = Unknown Andrews mariage? Neither Hants Marriage Index nor the Berks Marriage Index this marriage. The IGI has a only one marriage, in Dec 1847 in Walsall to William Andrews. I'll have a look at Census data tomorrow to see if this could be possibly her. -- John Lewis Debian (Sid) with the GeneWeb genealogy package

Something else for me to check tomorrow. The 1851 Census has George & Maria Martin living in Burghclere 1851 Census, West Street, Burghclere: George Martin, head, 38 ag lab, Burghclere Maria -do-, wife 42, , Burghclere John -do-, son, 8, servant ag lab, Burghclere George -do-, son, 6, scholar, Burghclere Ann -do-, dau, 4, , Burghclere Charles -do-, son, 9mo, , Burghclere Samuel Dennis, lodger, widr, 72, Inkpen, Berks Hannah Collins, lodger, 19, , Burghclere Eliza -do-, lodger,1, , Burghclere George Curtis, lodger, 2, , Burghclere I wondered if Samuel could be her father though usually he would have been recorded as father in law if so. I found Samuel had married Sarah Faithfull in Kintbury on 14 Jun 1880 and had a daughter Ann bapt in Inkpen on 14 Dec 1800 but no sign of any other children. So possibly Samuel was an Uncle. I then looked on the IGI for Maria and found : MARIA DENNIS Pedigree Female Event(s): Birth: 21 NOV 1806 Christening: 22 MAR 1807 Thatcham, Berks Parents: Father: SOLOMON DENNIS Family Mother: PHEBE and that Solomon Dennis married Phebe Cook at St. Mary Thatcham on 11 Feb 1806. and one other child John born 1 Jan 1810 bapt St. Mary, Thatcham 4 Feb 1810. There is no baptism for Solomon or Samuel on the IGI No children of Solomon & Phebe are to be found in Hants Bapt Index but Maria looks the best bet for the one who married John Collins & George Martin. -- John Lewis Debian (Sid) with the GeneWeb genealogy package

I forgot to say that if Maria was born in Thatcham then why not John Collins and I have a candidate on the website, John born 10 Jan 1806 to Thomas & Sarah (Moules or Mowles) who married at Thatcham on 30 Jul 1804. Makes him a couple of years older than his age of 24 at death. -- John Lewis Debian (Sid) with the GeneWeb genealogy package
