Maria has a brother George Dennis b ca 1802 Bromley (London not Kent) and baptised 25 July 1802 Bromley. George Dennis married Elizabeth Mills 20 Jan 1825 at Burghclere (Does anybody know who the witnesses are?) and in 1881 was living at Spring Lane, Burghclere. That is how the connection with Bromley came to light. Maria might have been baptised there as well despite being recorded in the 1851 census that she was of Burghclere. The 1841 census household in Burghclere shows the Dennis amd Martin link across two generations. Her father was born ca 1776 at Inkpen and her mother MIGHT be Sarah Faithful who married 14 Jun 1800 at Kintbury. Maria is the sister in law of Eliza Smith nee Martin (wife of Elisha Smith) who was my great great grandmother. A link between the Burgchlere and the Hannington Martins would be very amazing because it would provide common distant ancestors for my parents that they would never have known about. If anybody has already researched the 18th century Dennis family in Inkpen, I would be very grateful for information. Regards, Nigel Gerdes

Hants Marriage Index has him marrying Elizabeth TALMAGE at Highclere on that date. other 'local' marriages from the HMI include: 23 Nov 1819, Hannington, Thomas Dennis & Harrier Digweed 19 Oct 1822, Kingsclere, John Dennis & Ann Wheatland 25 Oct 1826, Burghclere, William Dennis & Martha Whittick > and in 1881 was living at Spring Lane, Burghclere. > That is how the connection with Bromley came to light.
