    3. There is a Kate Collins born 1861 who died in jan- mar quarter 1880 in Aldbury Wiltshire, aged 19 the only one I have been able to trace is this the same one?? regards Jane john lewis <[email protected]> wrote: On Mon, 5 Nov 2007 12:40:05 +0000 (GMT) JANE STAPLEY wrote: > Have now found out that he was called Frnacis James Collins or so > it says on the Marriage BMD site and was married July Sep Qtr 1884 > to Mary Prentice, many thanks for any info 1861 Census, Cottage, Kingsclere: William Collins, head, M, 30, farmer of 21 acres, Ecchinswell Jane, wife, 29, Ecchinswell Lucy, dau, 8, Ecchinswell John W, son, 5, Kingsclere Francis J, son, 3, Kingsclere Kate, dau, 6m, Kingsclere The 'Cottage' seems to have been somewhere near Knightsbridge rather than Kingsclere proper. FreeBMD has: Marriages Dec 1853: Collins William & Hart Jane, Kingsclere 2c 461 William is probably the one born about 1831 in Ecchinswell to Francis & Sarah as mentioned in previous email. There is no baptism for him in Kingsclere/Ecchinswell so he may have been baptised at Ufton Court RC but the IGI only covers baptism there to 1828ish I don't have a Jane Hart born ca1832 in my database nor is there one in the Hants Baptism Index so she will need some digging out see http://startx.co.uk:2317/Kingsclere?i=22844 HTH -- John Lewis Debian (Sid) with the GeneWeb genealogy package ---------------------------------------- >From Kingsclere. If you get unsubscribed and did not ask to be unsubscribed, please contact List Admin. The birth certificate for John William Collins has mother as Jane Collins (formerly Miles) A search for Jane Miles on FreeBMD didn't find anything in Kingsclere around the expected period. The most likely Jane Miles is the one bapt 13 Oct 1833 at St. Lawrence (from St. Mary register) to Isaac Miles & Hannah Andrews , but without the marriage certificate cannot prove it. Isaac was publican (and farmer) of the Rising Sun, Ecchinswell for many years. He was not a member of a Kingsclere Miles family but was born in the Speen area. If anyone is interested in this Collins family and would like the birth certificate for John William I'll pass it on. I haven't been able to trace John beyond 1871 when he was in parents household in Hexton, Herts, where his father was a gamekeeper. The same applies to youngest sister Sarah Ann. Kate Collins I traced as far as 1891 when she was living in Marylebone 1891 Census, St. Helena Home, Grove End Road, Marylebone: Kate Collins, assistant, 31, home sister, Kingsclere Kate had trained at Cheltenham General Hospital and she was recorded there in 1881 as an assistant hospital nurse. Father William Collins moved on from being a gamekeeper to becoming Foreman of Spratt's Dog Sanatorium, Battersea in 1891 and later 1901 Census, Bridge Road, Battersea: William Collins, head, 70, vet, canine specialist, Ecchinswell Jane, wife, 67, , Ecchinswell -- John Lewis Debian (Sid) with the GeneWeb genealogy package
