David John Ford was farming at Old Farm, Kingsclere in the 1881 Census, hence my interest in him. He was born in Swallowfield about Mar 1851 to George Ford and Mary GILES. David married Ann SIDERY in Reading Mar Qtr 1877 and had many children in Kingsclere, most of these I haven't found baptisms for so probably they were Methodists:- Emily 1877-1961 Eveline ca 1879 Walter John ca 1880 Reginald Charles ca 1884 Tom ca 1885 George Ernest ca 1887 May ca 1889 Nellie 1890 Hubert ca 1891 Hilda Mary ca 1893 Edith ca 1894 Louie ca 1896 David ca 1898 Victor ca 1898 George Ford married Mary GILES Reading RD Mar Qtr 1848 and had Joseph George ca1849, David John ca1851, Mary Elizabeth ca1853, Sarah Ann ca1855, George Daniel ca1857 Walter ca1860. Mary died in Hurst Sep Qtr 1863 and George then married Sarah GILES Reading RD Mar Qtr 1865 and had Kate ca1866, Emily ca1867, Ernest ca1869 George ca 1871 Both Mary & Sarah Giles were born in Wokingham in 1825 and 1828 so may have been sisters. George Giles senior was born in Sherborn(e) Hants in 1825 according to Census data but there is no baptism for him in Hants Bapt Index. However I did find a record on-line for George FORD, Birth: 25 Jun 1825, Christening: 24 Aug 1825. London Street Independent, Basingstoke. Parents: David & Elizabeth Ford. Hants Marr Index has a David Ford married to Elizabeth Duckett in Basingstoke on 29 Apr 1819 but there are no baptisms for these 2 in the Hants Bap Index, however the IGI has David born 21 Feb 1822 and Elizabeth Mary born 17 Feb 1820 both baptised at London Street Independant. 1841 Census has David age 45 farmer, Elizabeth 50, Elizabeth 20, David 18 and George 15 at Checkenden Oxf. 1851 Census has him at Church End Farm, Tilehurst age 53 with Elizabeth age 64 and a nephew George Duckett age 28 born Rotherwick, David seems to have stayed at Church End Farm until the 1870s but is recorded as a widower in 1871 in St. Mary Reading. He is recorded as born in Worting in 1861 and Elizabeth born in Sherfield in 1851 and 1861 Census. Finally I have David as a son of John & Ann Ford who had these children at Worting:- Mary ca 1789 Daniel ca 1790 John ca 1793 David ca 1796-1871/ George ca 1798 Thomas ca 1805 Anne ca 1810 So where were John & Ann married and where did they come from.
