The three children of Mr WATTS of the Dell were sent home on Monday morning by the Doctor's orders as they had not yet properly recovered from the measles. Received from the Education Comtee [sic] a piano on Monday morning. Jan 19 ... another outbreak of coughs & colds among the younger scholars. Jan 26 Received half a score of puffs on Tuesday morning which was paid for from Petty Cash Account. Feb 2 Coughs & colds have again broken out among the children of the Upper Classes & a good deal of irregularity is noticeable this week ... Feb 9 Two galvanized tanks were erected this week to supply water to the lavatory. Wednesday and Thursday mornings were very wet ... Feb 16 ... The weather has been better this week ... Mar 2 Another epidemic of colds & coughs has broken out among the children this week & the attendance has suffered in consequence ... The Attendance Officer called today & warned Charles SOPP for irregular attendance. Mar 16 This week has been stormy ... Charles SOPP has been more regular since being warned. Lilian SMITH has been absent during the whole of the week owing to a death in the family. Sent to Mrs BRIDGES on Thursday informing her that her son Philip appeared to be suffering with ringworm on the forehead and requesting her to get Dr MAPLES' advice regarding his attendance at school. Philip returned on Friday saying the Doctor had given him permission to attend. ... Mar 23 Philip BRIDGES has continued at [sic] this week no further suspicion of ringworm having developed. Mar 29 ... The Head Teacher after serving for thirty eight years in the School took leave of his Scholars & Teachers this morning owing to his retirement on March 31st/23.
