amongst the headstones I photographed at St. Peter, Headly yesterday was one for the above named born 1925, died 2005 and his wife Muriel Edith born 1926, died 1970 I found his birth on FreeBMD Births Mar 1926: Prout Reginald T, Gibbons, Kingsclere 2c 404 so went looking for a Prout/Gibbons marriage and found two! Marriages Dec 1919: Prout Thomas W, Gibbons, Reading 2c 1066 Marriages Dec 1919: Gibbons Emily E A, Prout, Reading 2c 1065 and Marriages Sep 1921: Gibbons Ethel M & Prout Arthur C, Reading 2c 972 turns out two Prout brothers married two Gibbons sisters, both born in Caversham. Births Mar 1896: Gibbons Emily Elizabeth A, Henley 3a 807 Births Mar 1899: Gibbons Ethel May, Henley 3a 879 the brothers were sons of Charles Prout ca1849-1933 & Mary Ann Fisher ca1856 and the sisters were daus of Joseph Gibbons ca1863 & Sarah Roman ca1863 who married at Kingsclere in 1889 and are in the database. the problem now is which couple were the parents of Reginald Thomas and who were his siblings? Married on 26 July 1941, St. Mary, Kingsclere, to William John Barnard (Witnesses: Thomas Frederick Barnard & Thomas W Prout). Dennis Romaine Prout, a bachelor age 25, builder of South Row, Headly, father Thomas William Prout, insurance agent. Married on 5 March 1949, St. Mary, Kingsclere, to Barbara Mary Hudson (Witnesses: Thomas William Prout & Lewis Alfred Kiel) Robin Edwin Valentine Prout, a bachelor age 22, pay clerk of South View, Headly, father Thomas William Prout, insurance agent.
