    3. Gerald and list, For ca 1855, I would recommend taking a look at Jackson's Oxford Journal. Despite the title it covered a wide area. It is digitised and can be searched on a commercial information site, but you either have to have an account which is expensive (perhaps a local library could help) or wait until they have a limited period of free access. It seems to come up over Christmas as the favourite time to open it up to all. For Hampshire mid-19th century then either the Hampshire Chronicle, or the HampshireTelegraph and Southsea Chronicle. The later is digitised. I have never looked at the Newbury Journal, it was not digitised on the commercial website. As an alternative to the web or local library, Collingdale (British Museum) Newspaper Reading Room may still be open or replacement arrangements to access the BM's newspaper collection are now in place. 3. A correction - it should be Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle (not Southsea) Nigel > Gerald and list, > > For ca 1855, I would recommend taking a look at Jackson's Oxford Journal. > Despite the title it covered a wide area.
