For Michael Bayliss: I have been able to group various names into a family - but nothing that looks conclusive for either of us, sadly. I have only looked at early Coterals, which is a pity, since a cousin of mine has just informed me that we have more Cottrells in the family, with our William Jennings 1883 marrying Florence Lucy Cottrell 1881. I may have to look again! Basingstoke: John Cottrell married Sarah and they had William 1655, Jone 1656 and Sarah 1666. John Cottrell (died 1671) married Elizabeth and they had John 1657(died), John 1668 and possibly one other John. John Cottrell married Elizabeth Plimmer in 1754 and their children were John 1755, Elizabeth 1756 and Mary 1757. Bramley: John Cottrell married Prudence in 1669 and they had Sarah 1670, Mary 1674 and John 1679. John Cottrell(probably the last listed) married M ary and they had John 1710, Mary 1711, Elizabeth 1712 and John 1715. Kingsclere: Michael Cottrell married Ann and had Francis 1756 and Ann 1758. Old Basing: John Cottrell was the father of Mary born 1686. George Cottrell married Mary and they had George 1714, Mary 1716, Edward 1718 and Sarah 1723. Elizabeth Cottrell was the mother of Sarah born 1745. Rotherwick: Richard Cottrell was the father of George 1750, Richard 1753, Mary 1756, John 1759 and Thomas 1763 (who subsequently married Jane 1778). Richard died 1773. Steventon: John Cottrell was the father of John 1606, Agnes 1609(died 1609) and Agnes 1610. One or other of the Johns died 1648. Tadley: George Cottrell married Sarah and they had George 1773 and Charles 1776. William Cottrell married Rachel. Best wishes Pam
