IGI batch P018931 has this entry: ROSE HANNAH RANDAL, Christening: 08 JUL 1792 Kingston Lisle, Berks Father: WILLIAM RANDAL, Mother: SARAH and batch M018931 has this marriage: WILLIAM RANDAL & SARAH HULCUP, 25 FEB 1792, Kingston Lisle with several other children in batch P018931 the same batch has WILLIAM RANDAL, Christening: 29 MAY 1768, Kingston Lisle, Berks Father: RICHARD RANDAL, Mother: MARY and another marriage RICHARD RANDAL & MARY COMPTON, Marriage: 24 AUG 1767, Kingston Lisle, Berks and this looks like an illegitimate child for Rose Hannah: ELIZA RANDALL, Christening: 03 SEP 1809, Kingston Lisle, Berks Mother: ROSANNA RANDALL I am going to add these two families to my database in the hope we may eventually be able to connect the Hannah of Highclere to Rose Hannah of Kingston Lisle, I found the marriage of Elizabeth Blackford (eventually) on FreeBMD: Marriages Jun 1849: Minns George, Kingston 4 256 Marriages Jun 1849: Blackford Elizabeth Hannah, Kingston 4 399 but tracing her through Census was tricky due to variant transcriptions of that Minns surname (and still haven't found them in 1871) but have found 5 children Emma ca 1850 George ca 1852 Anna ca 1856 Jane ca 1861 Henry ca 1863 -- John Lewis Debian & the GeneWeb genealogical data server

I think I should have looked further at those Kingston Lisle marriages as there is this entry which would seem to rule out Rose Hannah as a candidate for Hannah of Highclere. ROSANNA RANDAL & WILLIAM BUTLER, 14 MAY 1821, Kingston Lisle, Berks and this looks like that family in Kingston Lisle in 1841 William Butler 60 Hannah Butler 50 John Butler 20 Mary Butler 14 Sarrah Butler 12 a William Butler age 77 was buried at Sparsholt on 27 Mar 1853 which roughly fits the 1841 William. A Rosana Butler, widow age 70 born Kingsbone Boyle, Berk was a lodger in Habergham Eaves, Lancashire in 1861 but I haven't found her in 1851. -- John Lewis Debian & the GeneWeb genealogical data server

    3. Hello John. Many thanks for the information. I do hope this is my Hannah RANDALL but I'm not sure how I will prove it. The two marriage entries you sent me from Free BDM has me intrigued. > I found the marriage of Elizabeth Blackford (eventually) on FreeBMD: > Marriages Jun 1849: Minns George, Kingston 4 256 > Marriages Jun 1849: Blackford Elizabeth Hannah, Kingston 4 399 I have the Cert for the marriage of George MINNS to Elizabeth BLACKFORD but the cert. makes no mention of a second name Hannah. May 28th 1849 at Hook. Reg. Dist Kingston. This is my George his sister and brother in law Mary and Thomas EDWARDS were witnesses. Fathers George MINNS & John BLACKFORD. > Emma ca 1850 Kingston > George ca 1852 ( Born 28th May 1851 Southwark my ancestor) > Anna ca 1856 Kingston > Jane ca 1861 Hampton > Henry ca 1863 Hampton Married Emma KIDD June Q 1897 I have them on all of the census. George was a Domestic coachman and I think his employer probably had homes in both Hampton & Southwark and they travelled back and forth. From the census I haven't found his employers name. In 1871 they were at Grove Cottage Hampton. In 1881 he is in Mayfair and I think he was working for Lord Curzon. I am gathering up lots of details I need and when I'm ready I will have a look at the entry I found on Ancestry and see where the MINNS name fits in. This way I can pay for a sub. now and again. It doesn't make such a big hole in my pension. I did most of my census research the hard way, on film at my LDS, but I'm so glad Ancestry are now putting a lot of the PR on their site. Regards Sheila NSW
