Dear Barrie and List, FreeBMD does have Elizabeth Chittle and David West in a marriage page entry of four names: FreeBMD Kingsclere 4Q 1862 2c 425, so this would explain why the last two children Harriett b ca 1867 and Josiah ca 1869 had the surname West. the previous daughter, of David West and Elizabeth Chittle, Jane Chittle has a FreeBMD Birth entry for 3Q 1862 with the surname Chittle. I would be interested to know if anybody does order the marriage certificate if the name of Elizabeth's father does turn out to the Isaac Chittle.
