Dear List, The Kingsclere Bridgemans are described on John's website. Here are is a start at Basingstoke Bridgemans. I have left out baptisms to keep the length down They appear to start with a large family of siblings born at Thatcham Berks but with several of them marrying and settling elsewhere. It is not a proven tree and has speculative elements based on age given at death used to find place of birth. The best match again and again was from this single large family at Thatcham born to Thomas and Martha Bridgeman. Looking at the IGI it would suggest that all the North Hampshire Bridgemans might have a single source at or around Hungerford but no firm conclusions are possible on the limited data found so far. James b ca 1753 [Ref: 54615] one line up from the end of the tree just might be the James Bridgeman who settled at St Mary Bourne and married Mary Ledger. Comments, observations, corrections and additions are invited. Hello Nigel, There appear to be several lines of BRIDGEMAN/BRIDGMAN/BURGEMAN. One of my BRIDGMAN/BURGEMAN lines starts, Isaac BURGEMAN married to Anne EAMES 3 Oct 1736 Burghclere, they had 7 children. My 6 x great grandparents. Rod WHALE also shares these great grandparents. A 2nd line of BRIDGEMAN/BRIDGMAN/ Richard baptised 1 Feb 1789 Kingsclere married to Mary SIMPSON baptised 24 Feb 1793, they married 17 Oct 1811 Burghclere, I haven't yet been able to connect both families. There are also BRIDGMAN etc. connected with East Woodhay. >The best match again and again was from >this single large family at Thatcham born to Thomas and Martha >Bridgeman. Isaac's daughter is a Martha BRIDGMAN, I wonder if she could be named after the above Martha BRIDGMAN. Kind regards Barbara Lewis Mallyon Basingstoke, Hants. Hi Barbara and list, Barbara wrote > Hello Nigel, > > There appear to be several lines of BRIDGEMAN/BRIDGMAN/BURGEMAN. > > One of my BRIDGMAN/BURGEMAN lines starts, Isaac BURGEMAN married to > Anne EAMES 3 Oct 1736 Burghclere, they had 7 children. > My 6 x great grandparents. I have Isaac and Ann(e) with 9 children and so far have traced marriages for 6 of them. > > A 2nd line of BRIDGEMAN/BRIDGMAN/ Richard baptised 1 Feb 1789 > Kingsclere married to Mary SIMPSON baptised 24 Feb 1793, they married > 17 Oct 1811 Burghclere, I haven't yet been able to connect both > families. I understand Richard's (b ca 1782 bap 1789) parents to have been Joseph and Mary Bridgeman nee Aldridge who married 01 Jun 1772 at Hannington and in turn Joseph was baptised 25 April 1746 at Burghclere to Isaac and Ann(e) Bridgeman nee Eames. I think Mary SIMPSON died recorded as Mary BRIDGMAN in 1837 after the birth of her last child Leah BRIDGEMAN and was buried 26 Apr 1837 (HBI) with a given age of 45. This would suggests she was the daughter of Richard and Sarah SIMPSON nee ROLFE and was baptised 24 Feb 1793 at Kingsclere. > > There are also BRIDGMAN etc. connected with East Woodhay. > Yes, a burial in 1774 at East Woodhay of an Ann Bridgman age given 92 is a pointer to an even earlier generation. There is a disconnected family from Newtown starting with James Bridgeman b ca 1785. He married Anne NEATE 21 May 1810 in Newbury. I have traced all of his children apart from Caroline b ca 1822. > >The best match again and again was from > >this single large family at Thatcham born to Thomas and Martha > >Bridgeman. > > Isaac's daughter is a Martha BRIDGMAN, I wonder if she could be named > after the above Martha BRIDGMAN. Could be, The name Isaac keeps appearing too - even in the Basingstoke branch. Regards, Nigel
