    1. [King] FW: Enquiry re a brass plate in an Ecchinswell pub
    2. Rodney Whale
    3. Hello Everybody, Herewith a message I put on this list back in 2003. Nobody then could come up with the answer but now the list has grown perhaps somebody can please resolve my query. Regards, Rodney Whale. As some of you know my connection with Kingsclere area is the STOCKER family My enquiry concerns a brass plate that is affixed to the floor of the Royal Oak pub at Ecchinswell; that village is where the STOCKER family lived late 1700s and early 1800s. The wording on the plate is as follows:- Stan " Stocker" Stacey stood here. I am sure that someone on the list will know the significance of the wording and also all about the person concerned. I would be grateful to know all about it please.

    3. Hi Rodney, I will double check with a friend of mine who was a regular at the "Oak" in the 70's, but if memory serves me right, "Stocker" Stacey was just a regular drinker and "Stocker" was his nickname due to his build.
