    3. The baptism registers of Newbury Primitive Methodist Circuit probably contain baptisms of children born at Kingsclere. The circuit included three Primitive Methodist Chapels at Kingclere (Ashford Hill, Plastow Green, and Wolverton End). Baptism registers 1831-1952 for Newbury Primitive Methodist Circuit are at Berkshire RO (D/MC8/7A/1-4). Marriage registers 1912-1968 for Ashford Hill Primitive Methodist Chapel are at Hampshire RO. The register of Shefford Primitive Methodist Chapel is on film at FRC/PRO/Berks RO/LDS (RG 4/2146). It contains three baptisms conducted at Kingsclere 1835-1837. The surnames (including mothers' maiden names) are: PARSONS (TYLER), PEARSE (FREEMANTEL), MILES (WITTS). Further details on request. Alan McGowan

Ecchinswell ca 1824 married to Robert Fisher b. Thatcham ca 1824. I would be pleased to have any info on Eliza if you have her in your tree. I also have an interest in name Bridgeman, tho' all mine _seem_ to be Kingsclere born. I am trying to link Kingsclere names together to show the convoluted relationships between them. Kingsclere in this case extends to all the Kingsclere Registration district and across the county border to Greenham, Brimpton/Thatcham as so many of the Woodlands people strayed that way for wives/husbansds. I will be happy to have copies of your trees to enter into my database. I have a 'Kingsclere Families' webpage at http://www.jlewis.uklinux.net/index.html This is centred around my Cooper family but I am slowly adding other Kingsclere families to the site. -- John Lewis <johnlewis@hantslug.org.uk> using Mandrake GNU/Linux 8.0 and Geneweb genealogy software

I did check the parish records but I couldn't find him in 'Hackmans Bishops Transcripts' for Burghclere, Highclere, Kingsclere (which includes Ecchinswell and Sidmonton) or East Woodhay. There is a baptism in Burghclere of Elizabeth on 13 Jul 1783 to James and Molly Richardson and a marriage of Thomas Richardson to Sarah Johns on 12 Jul 1789 but no other Richardson children bapt. in Burghclere up to 1812. As well as the Isaac/Amelia family I found a Mary Ann Richardson age 24 born Ecchinswell in 1851 census. It looks as though the Richardson family moved around the area as children are recorded as born Sidmonton, Greenham and Kingsclere. > He married: > Amelia Bavestock 17 nov 1832 in Burghclere, > making her DOB abt 1808; but again, can find no > info on her. The 1851 census index has Amelia born Newtown but I also found Baverstocks in East Woodhay which isn't far away. There was a marriage of William Baverstock to Elizabeth Hill in East Woodhay on 20 Sep 1784 and the burial of inf. Baverstock on 28 Feb 1787 but no other mention of children. On 22 Jul 1794 Lawrence Tubbs married Elizabeth Baverstock. These East Woodhay transcripts only cover to 1796 so couldn't see if Amelia was bapt. there, but it is probably worth looking at the registers for this parish and also Newtown, Greenham and Brimpton, all neigbouring villages. There are no Richardson or Baverstock baptisms in Kingsclere in this period. -- John Lewis <johnlewis@hantslug.org.uk> using Mandrake GNU/Linux 8.0 and Geneweb genealogy software

I will be increasing the local history content of my website this year, so will be looking out for anything of interest which I will pass on here if relevant. Just waving over the fence for now! 3. Hi, I am new to this list. I was very surprised to see this area listed; but also very excited. I am looking for the chr. info for the following couple: Isaac Richardson born abt 1799. His burial record states he was 53 when he died in 1852, and according to the 1851 census he was born in Burghclere. I did check the parish records but didn't see him there. He married: Amelia Bavestock 17 nov 1832 in Burghclere, making her DOB abt 1808; but again, can find no info on her. Can anyone shed any light on this couple, please?
