The only Berry baptism I cane find between 1885 and 1905 is for a Mary Riding Berry baptised at St. Mary, Kingsclere on 2 Jul 1902 to John and Clara. John was Porter at the Workhouse. Looking at the 1881 census there were no Berry families in Kingsclere but a couple at Burghclere and Highclere, None at any of the other surrounding villages (Hannington, Wolverton, Ecchinswell) that I could see. 1. House and Clifford Surnames
    2. David Herring
    3. Hi, As a 'lurker' for some months now, I thought it was about time I put a request in! Amongst others I am primarily interested in the House and Clifford families who lived in Burghclere. From my research it appears as if the House families lived in Burghclere possibly back into the 1700s, but my research hasn't quite reached there yet! As for the Cliffords, they moved to Burghclere from the Newbury / Washcommon / Bussock area sometime between 1876 and 1881. I am particularly interested if anyone elso is researching these names and especially if anyone has information that goes into the 1900s, as other than my direct ascendents I have no information on the many branches that must exist. Many thanks, David.

    2. Hi list, I have just got hold of a photo of a Home Guard platoon c1940-1944. I don't know the exact name of the platoon or the place covered by the platoon. My grandfather is in the photo so it must be in the Kingsclere, Baughurst and Ramsdell area. If anyone would like a copy, or think that they may be able to put a name to a face, I will send them a copy by e-mail. Bye for now, Ian in France

    1. SIDERY
    2. Pauline & Arthur Kennedy
    3. Hi I am fairly new to this list, and I am investigating the surname SIDERY (SYDRY, SIDRY etc). In particular I am trying to link together 3 main branches of this family (my own and 2 others), and some SIDERYs from one of these other main branches appear to have some connection with Kingsclere in the early 19th century. I have a John SIDERY and Martha JOYES, and William SIDERY and Mary Ann HILL (I think) having children baptised at Northbrook Street Wesleyan Chapel in Newbury, and at least some of these children may have been born in Kingsclere. I have looked at the references to the surname on the Kingsclere website, but if anyone has any further information on the surname SIDERY in this area, I would be very pleased to hear of it. I am, of course, very happy to share the information I already have on this family, though most of what I have is in Blewbury, Upton and East Hendred, Berks, and later (1780s onwards) in Kent. My ancestral Siderys and their families can be seen on my website given below. Thank you Pauline Kennedy akpak@balmnet.co.uk http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scraton
