    2. Ann Sargeant
    3. As requested by Barbara, here are my Kingsclere (and area) names: ARUNDELL - All of those in the area and in nearby Hampshire and Berkshire parishes are probably all part of my family. My "most wanted" is to find the marriage of the Richard Arundell who was baptised 1741 Kingsclere so he probably married 1760s/70s. (There are several Richards in the area at the time) Also need marriages of a John Arundell and Mary about 1650/70 and marriage of John Arundell and Joan about 1690ish WIGMORE, WIDMORE I have Richard Wigmore (6xGGfr) married Elizabeth PAGE 1710 Kingsclere. BATCHELOR and all variant spellings I have a number of names associated with these families including Lane, Goddard, Bottenton?, Humphry, Bornell, Hind, Smith, Berry, Smith, Stroud, Doe Bightwell. I am not actively researching all these names but have varying info on them, often quite small. Ann Sargeant, Basingstoke --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 1. Virus Warnings
    2. Barbara Mallyon
    3. Hello All, Some of the other rootsweb mailing list are talking about the Virus, it seem that the Virus is something that we should all be aware of each day we use our computer. To all of our new subscribers, please make sure that you have Anti Virus Protection, there are two Anti Virus Protection software packages, that my spouse and I have tried and tested and would recommend, Norton and McAfee both are excellent. You can update this software weekly by going online. If you need temporary Anti Virus Protection, download AVG free at www.grisoft.com Update your Anti Virus Protection weekly. McAfee update is on a Wednesday and Norton is either a Wednesday or a Thursday. Make it a habit of doing a weekly BACKUP of all of your files, this could save you a lot of work if your computer crashes, and you lose all of your files. Remember DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS, unless you have been asked first by the person who sent it. If you do not know what the attachment is about, either delete the message, or ask the person who sent it, "did you send me an attachment", even if it is from your own family, if not the Virus could catch you out, this has happened, so do not take a chance, think first. Take care of yourself and your computer. Barbara Mallyon Basingstoke, Hants, UK BarbaraMallyon@lewmal.co.uk Listowner

    1. Re: a little bit off-topic
    2. John I'm using the AOL browser (AOL 7) and your website works perfectly. All the links work and the pictures are very clear. Your website is a truly wonderful resource and I found it very interesting to read about all the other Kingsclere families. If it is possible I think it would be a big help to have some sort of name search facility so that it is possible to search the whole website for a particular person or a specific surname. I note that Peter Goff has a search facility on his website. Perhaps you could incorporate something similar? At some point I will give you an update on my TIDBURY data as I have many extra dates and a few extra children which you don't yet have. I notice that you have prematurely killed off Ellen Jane BELLINGER nee TIDBURY! She died some time after 1901 as she was very much alive in the 1901 census! Perhaps at some point you might like to amend her details. Best wishes Debbie

    3. Hopefully Barbara won't unsub me for this off-topic posting ;-) I really need some feedback on my website from people a. who have older monitors using 640x480 resolution b. anyone viewing from AOL, Compuserve or Prodigy c. anyone still using older MS browsers or Netscape 4.77 or earlier. Can you view the website satisfactorily, do all the links work? I don't expect the picture gallery to display as intended in the older browsers but you should be able to see the images. anyone can respond to this question - is there anything you don't like about the site? the website can be found at http://www.startx.co.uk/ I addded new content yesterday and have changed the appearance of some pages. I had hoped to update all the trees before putting them back up again but am finding this takes too long. It took me nearly a week to update just the Kingsclere part of the Soper family tree and I still don't have all the descendants on the distaff side. I am currently working on the Aldridge family and have so far spent four days on it. Next on the list has to be the Prout family as there is a lot of Kingsclere detail I haven't yet input or checked, so much in fact I haven't uploaded the tree this time. Then I want to look at Povey and so it goes on. -- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software

    3. Colin and John Thanks for info regarding John Grigg John Grigg of Ruislip baptised July 24th 1791 at Wolverton was the 4th child of John Grigg and Ann Jacob. They were married June 5th1786 in Wolverton. With regards to the marriages which John has listed I think that he is correct, the John who is the witness to Mary Grigg's marriage is indeed John of Ruislip's father and the brother of Mary, Ann, Elizabeth and Stephen. I think that John has helped me with this before as John of Ruislip's sister Eliza married a John Bond and John of Ruislip's grandmother was an Elizabeth Bond. I am however stuck with this Mary Grigg who married John Blackman I can't find her baptism anywhere,I reckon that it would be between 1760- 1773 possibly Wolverton but maybe Kingsclere. Any help would be gratefully received. Maureen Grigg On Wed, 28 May 2003 07:26:54 +0100 Colin Harris wrote: Has anyone lost a John GRIGG born around 1791, whilst reading through a book on Ruislip, Middlesex I have found a reference to him as originating from Wolverton. He was apparently connected with the church in Ruislip for nearly 40 years, as parish clerk, assistant overseer and church warden; he died in 1868. I have the following Grigg entries for Kingsclere St. Mary Ann ca 1769-1827 married 26 Dec 1789 to Robert Stevens ca 1767, witnesses: Stephen & Mary Grigg. Ann born Ecchinswell Elizabeth married 28 Nov 1791 to Jeoffrey Webb, witness: Mary Grigg Mary married 16 May 1793 to John Blackman, witnesses: John Grigg and Elizabeth Webb Stephen married 9 Sep 1793 to Hannah White, witnesses: Mary Walker? & E??? Jacob? (almost unreadable). Stephen was of Wolverton. Although Ann was 'of Ecchinswell' at marriage and baptised there there seems to be a link with Stephen, Elizabeth and Mary with them being witnesses at each others weddings. The only John here, as a witness, could be the father of the John at Ruislip.
