    2. I also had several of these on Tuesday evening. They started suddenly and stopped just as quickly. The subjects varied but the content looked the same. Just one sentence saying 'look at the attachment'or words to that effect. I have 'mailwasher' which enables you to look at you e-mail before you download it from the server so I didn't open any of them just deleted them, before downloading legitimate e-mails Sue Matthews > > From: "Barbara Mallyon" <BarbaraMallyon@lewmal.co.uk> > Date: 2003/08/20 Wed PM 10:18:02 GMT > To: ENG-HAMPSHIRE-KINGSCLERE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Unwanted Rejection Notices > > Hello All, > > Debbie has just emailed me to say she is being inundated with these > Rejection Notices, treat them as you would a Virus and delete them by > using you Shift Key and Delete, also do not open them, do not take that > chance. > > McAfee and Norton have put out 3 AntiVirus up-dates this week, so they are > well aware of all the Virus that are going around, so please keep your > AntiVirus Protection up todate and do that weekly back-up of your files. > > If you get any attachments that say they are from any rootsweb mailing > list, they are not, these would contain a Virus possibly 'W32/Sobig-F' > rootsweb cannot send anyone a Virus, the rootsweb mailing system is well > protected. > > Regards > > Barbara Mallyon > Basingstoke, Hants, UK > BarbaraMallyon@lewmal.co.uk > Listowner > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > > ----------------------------------------- Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/

    1. Virus Warning on Television
    2. Barbara Mallyon
    3. Hello All, The BBC Television at 7.00am this morning gave out a Virus warning, please make sure you updated your AntiVirus Protection NOW, and do a computer Backup of all of your files, you may need this Backup. What is this virus:- It is W32.Blaster.Worm and how does it affect me? W32.Blaster.Worm exploits the Microsoft DCOM RPC vulnerability (described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-026) using TCP port 135. It will attempt to download and run a file, msblast.exe. The worm also attempts to perform a Denial of Service on windowsupdate.com in order to disable the user's ability to patch the machine(s) against the DCOM RPC vulnerability. For more information look at www.symantec.com You all know the drill, DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS even from your family, ask ANYONE who has sent you an attachment. "Have you sent me an attachment and what is in the attachment." If you are not sure about the attachment, delete it using the Shift Key and Delete. For the new subscribers:- If you have not got an AntiVirus, please get one, the Norton and the McAfee have been tried and tested by myself and my spouse, we highly recommend them. Keep them updated once a week, the updates on both of these comes out on a Wednesday, at the same time get into the habit of doing a Backup of all of your files, if your computer breaks down for any reason or you wipe off anything in error, you can reinstall it from your Backup file. 1. PRISMALL
    2. John Lewis
    3. I have been checking various dates in my Cooper family data and decided to have another look at the John Cooper who was landlord of the Anchor Inn until his death in 1850. He was married to a Leah ? who died in 28 Dec 1827. Her MI is still visible (just) in the bank on the left of the path down to the church door from George? Street. I hadn't been able to find a marriage for them in Kingsclere but had found through the IGI a possible marriage at St. Mary Lewisham, Kent on 23 May 1808 of John Cooper & Leah Prassnell. This date of marriage ties in with the birth of their first child John, who was bapt. at St Mary on 5 Jan 1810. Leah was said to have been 40 years of age in the burial register which gives 1787 as her year of birth. I could find no Prassnell surnames on a quick search of the IGI but putting in Leah Prismall found the Leah born in Kingsclere in 1787 to John & Martha (Ruddle) It seems too good a co-incidence to pass up on, especially as the first two children are John & Martha possibly named after grandparents. Another link to Prismall is that John & Leah's 4th child Thomas died at Old Farm, Woodlands in Jul 1834. The Prismalls had taken on the tenancy of Old farm following the death of John Foster, jnr. whose second wife Sarah Cooper was a sister of John Cooper. So if I am right then I have another link into the Prismall family in addition to the ones through the Booth family. -- John Lewis <jayellatntlworlddotcom> from Bournemouth, Dorset, UK. using Debian GNU/Linux and GeneWeb genealogy software
