Hello Adrian Many thanks for your suggestion. It seems that I will have to check the Exeter (St Mary Arches) PRs. I was hoping that the OPC for Exeter could help, but she doesn't have records for this parish yet. A complication has arisen when I found I had noted a baptism in Alverstoke (2-3 miles from Portsmouth) also for a Thomas ROBINS s/o John (no mother mentioned) and in Sep 1638! I got it from the PR but couldn't read the actual date, so maybe I've been barking up the wrong tree, unless ..... (I keep thinking of various possible scenarios!!).
