My grandmother, Edith Avis(nee Colley), told my mother that her father, William Henry Colley used to carve the horses for Simmonds Carousal. Two of them just fitted into the front room of their home. He also made the first travelling live-in van for Barnham & Bailey. The Simmonds Company was in Scotland when something went wrong with a piece of equipment so they wrote to the firm William Henry Colley worked for requesting that he travelled to Scotland to carry out the repair. However the firm for which Willam Colley worked sent another employee. On arrival in Scotland this employee was asked who he was and promptly sent back with the message that they wanted the services of William Colley. Best wishes, Marilyn
