Hi Linda and Tony, thank you for reply, John married Mary Brigden 1858, the Parish of St Paul Chatham, she is down as widow but with no former name, so don't know if Brigden is maiden name or first married name, her address is Whittaker Place Chatham. I have looked in all census but don't seem to be able to find her. The vessel that John was on "Fire Queen" Portsmouth Harbour. Greetings! I have now had several messages off-list from subscribers who have received a strange email purporting to originate from Rootsweb. The message is shown below and it is appearing to originate from other lists too. It is suspected to be a spoof and a poorly masked attempt to harvest email addresses by hoping the recipient will click on the link sent, thus confirming their existence. I would urge anyone receiving these messages to delete them and NOT click on the link. Sometimes persons engage third party anti-spam services to filter out their unwanted mail, and send out such messages. As a matter of routine, I always reject any requests to comply, for it is the user's responsibility to manage their own "white lists" and not expect others to do it for them. In the case of messages being routed via Rootsweb, there are plenty of adequate in-built safeguards to prohibit spam from being forwarded - only the Listowner gets it! The message to ignore is...... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "You recently sent an e-mail to me at ENG-HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com. Your message was NOT delivered.
