Checking in the 1881 census I found an Edward Frederick Coffee, 41, shipwright, at 88 Toronto Road, Portsea, rather than number 80. Then doing an address search on the 1901 census it would appear that 88 Toronto Road, Portsea, was occupied, but there is a charge for the information about the inhabitants. From FreeBMD it seems as if the Edward Frederick Coffee you are looking for died age 61 sometime in the December quarter of 1901 in Poole - I don't know if this would give you any further clues.
