I wonder whether the free access has been granted because ancestry have seen a drop in their "share" of the market since Quinetic sold out their Nationalarchives 1901 project to friendsreunited? Interesting the finance of it all! Quinetic made over £7 million from the project and sold it for over £3 million. Taken their money and run? Genealogy has increased about 10 fold since the coming of the internet Linda, and they reckon it is one of the top subjects put into search engines.
