Hi Pat As Jon has said, the correct spelling is EWER Common - it is still there today consisting of a small area of grass commonland off Park Road, Gosport at one end and leading to Mount Pleasant Rd at the other. It is in Alverstoke but the Marine Barracks at Forton were not there in 1820. The RMLI which occupied the Forton Barracks did not come into being until halfway through the 1800's.
