Hi Listers Wondering if anyone can help me with this small problem? I'm trying to find the marriage of my 4 x great grandfather Thomas MAY and a woman called Betty. They lived in Romsey from at least 1802 as their son (my 3x great grandfather William) was born there. According to the 1851 census, Betty was born in Kings Somborne about 1781. As I can't find the marriage anywhere in Hampshire on IGI, I thought I'd look to see if I could order a film through my local FHC. However, although info on the internet says Kings Somborne is a parish, I can't find it in the Family History Library Catalogue. I'm confused - can anyone clarify this for me? Many thanks Lindsay Eaton Wellington New Zealand
Hi Lindsay You are correct that Kings Somborne is a parish and you can read about the village and the history of the church on our website at http://southernlife.org.uk//kingsomb.htm Chris and Caroline Lindsay Eaton wrote: > Hi Listers > Wondering if anyone can help me with this small problem? Lindsay, King's Somborne is listed in the Family History Library Catalogue under the incorrect spelling Kings-Sombourn. The LDS Church has not filmed the registers. However, the Family History Library holds microfiche copies of some of the registers (references 18M70/PR2, PR3, PR5, PR6, PR9, PR11, PR12). These were probably purchased from the Hampshire Record Office. HRO also sells microfiche to individuals. You can see the period covered by each of the registers (18M70/PR2 etc) by finding the references in the Hampshire Record Office Catalogue on the web.
