    3. Dot, You might want to start with the 1851 Census indexes produced by the Hants FHS, http://www.hgs-online.org.uk/ To my knowledge currently nobody has produced Hants 1851 on CD several are taking advanced orders but I'd wait and see who produces it first. The GURDs can be traced back to the early 1500s in Wiltshire, but at the end of the 18th century some strayed to Hampshire - mostly to the Fordingbridge area. We believe that the JURD families in and around South Stoneham are connected. My reason for this message is the hope that someone can tell me where I can buy the 1851 Census for Hampshire. I'm not sure how this List regards "advertising" of commercial companies, so if necessary could you please contact me off List with the information. Many thanks Dot in Salisbury, Wilts ============================== Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the areas they lived. 3. I recently used the index at the Hampshire records office in Winchester and was impressed how easily I was able to locate my relatives, Unfortunately I live 3 hours drive from there or I would offer to look for you - maybe someone else would be willing - mine were mistranscribed and still only took about ten minutes to locate. Hopefully the 1851 census will soon be available online and make things a lot easier for us all Linda B -----Original Message----- From: Steve Day [mailto:steve_day@blueyonder.co.uk] Sent: 05 June 2005 10:54 To: ENG-HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [ENG-HANTS] 1851 Census for Hants Dot, You might want to start with the 1851 Census indexes produced by the Hants FHS, http://www.hgs-online.org.uk/ To my knowledge currently nobody has produced Hants 1851 on CD several are taking advanced orders but I'd wait and see who produces it first.
