    3. Dear Dot, no, like Steve Davis I'm not connected with anyone interesting. Just intrigues by rare names - though these turned out to be not so rare. In view of the etymology and the Census taker's confusion, it looks as thought the 'G' was soft. Regards, David

There was a GURD family living just outside of Fawley, Len GURD was a friend of mine who worked with me with British Rail Parcels, he died about 12 years ago so not sure if any of the family are still living in the area.
