Kathryn Many thanks for the extra info ... it may well be that his father was indeed a labourer at Dummer Grange ... unfortunately I do not know for sure ... I have very little information on Thomas or Tom as he was known ..... I know that he married into my MORSE family pre 1914 (this is when the first of three children were born) ... his wife was born 1879....... I lose track of them until 1933 when the death of their youngest daughter occurs in Victoria Australia .... then the trail goes cold again!!! I have photos of him and his wife Beatrice and DOB for the children .... he is in uniform, and some time ago someone on one of the lists told me that it was a Yeoman's uniform, but unfortunately I was not able to confirm what unit he was attached to. I actually found a Tom Arthur COOPER on the 1881 also born Basingstoke aged 8 living with his father William J (incidentally Tom's son was William John) an Auctioneer/Valuer living Eastrop Hants ... wherever that is ? Looks like it is back to the drawing board ... need to find a marriage for him and Beatrice ... which I am guessing occurred after 1901 as she is listed on the 1901 with her mother and sister, but possibly before 1903, which is when her mother died and she did not rate a mention in the will!!! Again many thanks Cheers Jennifer In OZ
Hi Jennifer, freeBMD has 2 possible marriages, 1902 to ?Beatrice HASE or 1901 to ?Beatrice KEMP Do either of these surnames ring a bell? Of course it's possible that either Thomas Cooper married one of the other women on the page.
