    3. Good morning Listers, I am hoping SKS can assist me regarding a burial that may have taken place at Kingston Cemetery in the Sept quarter of 1871. The lady's name was Emma Christie (nee Tomkinson), 24 years of age, born in Liverpool in Sept 1846. At the time of the 1871 Census, she was with her husband, an Army Officer, born in Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1844, Edward Tolfrey Christie, at Claremont Lodge in Portsea. Edward was a Deputy, at the Commissionary Control Depot at Portsea in Hampshire. Emma died, the day she gave birth to a daughter, Emma. Both Emma the mother's death is registered, as is the birth of baby Emma. However, baby Emma cannot be found, in any records after her birth. Edward Tolfrey Christie, remarried, maybe in Ireland, to a Margaret Ramsay, as a son, William Edward Tolfrey Christie, was born in Ireland in 1878. There are a couple of questions, I hope can be answered, regarding Emma Christie and her burial. First, could Emma the baby have died, and seeing there would be two Emma Christie's dying on the same day, that when the records were transcribed, it was assumed that there was a duplication and only one death was transcribed? Second, would Emma the mother have been buried at Kingston Cemetery in Portsea? Third, if the baby did die at the same time as her mother, one can assume she would be buried with her mother? Would the Cemetery have records of a baby being buried with an adult? Hope someone can help with these questions. Regards, Janice Belrose - Old Sydney Town.
