    1. TILLER in 1851 in Southampton

    3. Hi, everyone. On 7 Dec 1863 Thomas John GARDNER married Mary Ann TILLER in Cardiff in Glamorgan, Wales. The marriage certificate says Mary Ann's father was Walter TILLER deceased. He was a ship's carpenter. Mary Ann is listed as being 21, so that would mean a birth around 1842. In another record in our family she said she was born in February of 1846 in Southampton, Hampshire. That would make her 17 when she married. John was listed as 20 on the certificate, but we have his birth certificate, and he was only 17 in 1863, as he was born 19 Feb 1846. I think Walter was even deceased by 1861, as I cannot find him on the census. I am trying TILLER, TILER, TILLOR, TILLAR, and TYLER. I wonder if anyone has access to an index of the 1851 Census who might be able to find a family of a Walter TILLER (or any such variation) in or around Southampton with a Mary Ann with an age that would fit a birth around 1842-1846. Maybe I can find at least her mother's 1st name and use that to help find when and where Mary Ann was born and when and where her parents married. Thanks to any and all who can help. Ed Scriven
