    3. Dear Angie, the BUBB family are of long standing hereabouts: BUBB, Joseph, tenanted Bubb's House with garden near Wood Common, Langley Fawley, 1792 BUBB, Joseph, publican, (not sure whether of 'The Ship' or 'The Jolly Sailor' - probably the latter [still there]) Lepe, Exbury, 1792 BUBB, Winifred, became Mrs. Saunders and attended the laying of the foundation stone of Blackfield's second Baptist Chapel, Hampton Lane, in 1938. There are still numerous Bubbs living locally (Blackfield, Holbury, and farther afield at Eastleigh, New Milton and Thornhill [Southampton]) I don't have the 1851, only the 1861 Census (when Exbury still came under Fawley), but for that: Exbury: BUBB, Ann, wife of Thomas (sched. 33), aged 56, born Beaulieu BUBB, Ann, wife of Charles (sched. 38), aged 50, born Beaulieu BUBB, Charles, head (sched. 32), aged 29, brickmaker, born Exbury BUBB, Charles, head (sched. 38), aged 57, dairyman, born Exbury BUBB, Edward, son of Charles (sched. 38), aged 7, scholar, born Exbury BUBB, Emily, dtr. of Thomas senior (sched. 33), aged 11, scholar, born Exbury BUBB, George, son of Thomas senior (sched. 33), aged 14, general labourer, born Exbury BUBB, James, grandson of Thomas senior (sched. 33), aged 11, farm boy, born Eling BUBB, James (possibly, though looks more like Jenner), son of Charles (sched. 38), aged 15, agricultural labourer, born Exbury BUBB, John, son of Charles (sched. 38), aged 11, farm boy, born Exbury BUBB, Joseph, head (sched. 54), aged 55, general labourere, born Exbury BUBB, Kate, dtr. of Charles (sched. 38), aged 9, scholar, born Exbury BUBB, Mary, (sched. 30), live-in servant (under-nurse) to Bartlett household, aged 13, born Exbury BUBB, Sarah, wife of Charles (sched. 32), aged 23, born Exbury BUBB, Thomas senior, head (sched. 33), aged 57, garden labourer (probably to Exbury gardens), born Exbury BUBB, Thomas junior, son of Thomas senior (sched. 33), aged 16, general labourer, born Exbury Lepe (which came under Exbury even when that came under Fawley) BUBB, William, widower aged 28, fisherman, aboard the 'Alice' at Lepe (witnessed by chief officer of the coastguard) Blacklands Farm (Exbury) BUBB, Henry, servant to Soffe family (sched. 72), aged 19, ag. lab., born Exbury Regards, David

    3. Dear David Thank you so very much for such a detailed list. I think I have found James BUBB I want aged 15 living with mother Ann BUBB (I know that she was born abt 1811 born Beaulieu from the 1881 and 1871 but she was a widow. The 1861 says she was married to Charles BUBB. This is fantastic! Now I can look for the marriage. It seemed such an unusual name but judging from your list - there are heaps of them there. I am sure they will all be connected somewhere so such a wonderful lead. Thank you once again.
