Hello again Listers, I have returned to yet again plead for help with a couple of questions. A Holly Hill House? Could someone tell me where about in Titchfield it was? I have been looking at a map (honest) but cannot see it on there. There is Holly Hill Farm, Holly Hill Club and Rose Cottage but not the ‘House’! Is it by any chance the Farm or Club? Also, if it is not too much of an imposition, could someone tell me what/where the “Common Gates” would be around Titchfield? I have an Elizabeth KING who married a William STUR(N)MEY in 1838 and she gives her address as this. Thanks if you have read this far, I greatly appreciate any and all help. Dear Richard, depending on the status of whoever you're researching, I would plump for 'Holly Hill Mansion', its drive runs west from Barnes Lane and it sits just south of the Cemetery in Holly Hill Woodland Park. All Southampton SO31 of course. Regards, David
Richard I cannot find a Holly House but there is a Holly House Nursery mentioned at http://tinyurl.com/cra6l this could be the one, I think it is Titchfield but not too sure as it is a pdf file and not very clear on locations. Nothing found about the gates even on our history of the village and surrounding area at http://southernlife.org.uk/titchfie.htm Chris Richard Parsons wrote: >Hello again Listers, >I have returned to yet again plead for help with a couple of questions. > >A Holly Hill House? Thanks again All, the help is always appreciated. >>Nothing found about the gates even on our history of the village and >>surrounding area at http://southernlife.org.uk/titchfie.htm Chris And an excellent site it is too Chris... I have found a "House" which actually looks like the one I am searching for, in the 1851 for in Landford, Wiltshire. There is an Alexander GRIERSON, Bart. et al living there. Also in the parish are a number of KING Family groups, with (Lo and Behold!) a Harriet KING aged 2, who it transpires is the same in all respects (except where born) to the child (niece) living with William & Elizabeth in "HHH" in 1861. Being so close to the 'border', could it have been in Hampshire at that time perhaps? It is approximately 11 miles from Southampton. Thanks all, Richard -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
