Hi List, I am sure many of you have heard of the LDS project to index ALL their holdings and post them free on the internet. The indexing is now live and if you want to help with the project you can join in. As far as I can see, most of the current batches for indexing are USA census records for 1900, but the sooner this gets done the quicker they will move on to other records, including, of course, UK census, parish registers etc etc. I have had a short "go" and am extremely impressed with the LDS project, a minimum of typing as there is autocomplete on most of the fields. I also like the way that the field you are looking at is actually high-lighted, so you don't spend ages finding your place in the document. A batch is a single sheet of the census return, so you can contribute just a single page - takes about 30-40 mins. You need to download and install the software, but this is quick and easy.
