    3. Have hit a brick wall with my ancestor Edward Dalby DAY, born c1826, Selbourne Hampshire (as per 1859 marriage Cert) Parents were Edward Day, Gamekeeper, and Elizabeth DEAN Edward Dalby Day immigrated in c1857 I can't find him or his parents on the IGI and the 1841 & 1851 census offer a few possibilities but are all wide of the mark. I thought DALBY may have been a clue but can't link it as yet. I did find an Edward DAY and David DALBY in the 1841 census in the 35th Regt but YOB out by 5 years and as there were others there aged 15 not sure if it was necessary to put his age up. Any clues would be appreciated as I have been stuck on this for over a year. TIA Lynne SA

    3. Hi Lynne, As you have not mentioned searching the parish baptism register, am I right in assuming that you have yet to do this? Brickwall isnt complete until every known source of information has been searched!! 3. Hi Sandra Thank you for your reply. If you meant the "Hampshire Parish & Probate Register" that is on Ancestry the answer is yes. If not can you tell me where I can find it. Am self taught and only learn from the "Lists". Appreciate your time Lynne SA Hi Lynne, As you have not mentioned searching the parish baptism register, am I right in assuming that you have yet to do this? 3. Hi Lynne, Oh dear, no! What is on Ancestry in that category is a very, very small fraction of the parish registers in Hampshire. There are over 300 parishes in the county and the majority of completed registers are deposited at the Hampshire Record Office in Winchester, or the smaller record offices at Southampton and Portsmouth for their area of interest with copies at Winchester. It is possible to purchase microfiche copies of parish registers from the HRO. However, I have a transcript of the Selborne parish registers and there are no DAY entries at all, neither marriages, nor baptisms. Now you really have hit a brick wall!
