Hi Carole You said "I received the marriage certificate for Robert YELF and Mary Jane MOORE married Southampton 22/11/1842. I was hoping to find the link between this Robert YELF Shoemaker and my YELF family but the names of the parents are not given!! ....The church is The Parish Church,Parish of All Saints Southampton,Hants, by certificate." >From their ages in the 1851 Census, I would say they were both born about 1811. I suspect that he is the person shown as Robert YEEF in the 1841 Census, a Bootmaker aged 30 living at Deacons Court, St Mary, Southampton with Robert YEEF a Cabinet Maker aged 60, Sophia YEEF aged 60 and Emily YEEF aged 5. Family relationships were not indicated in the 1841 Census, but at a guess Robert and Sophia are Robert's parents. Young Robert was a Shoemaker in the 1851 Census, so I think we have the right one. In the 1851 Census that child Emily was at Southampton All Saints with her parents William and Elizabeth YELF aged 45 and 50 - William was a Cabinet Maker so I guess a brother of Robert and the son of the older William and Sophia.
