I realise this is off topic so maybe someone could answer me off list. But how do I actually put my tree on genes united? Some years ago I put my name in and then did no more as I didn't know how to input further without going through the natural progression from myself through parents, grandparents etc - all living relatives. I haven't been able to delete myself (!) so presumably need to start all over again (not sure how to do that either) once I know how to proceed. I haven't managed to find anywhere on the site to get answers to these questions so any suggestions gratefully received. Carol

You used to have to delete the entire tree, before you could upload a replacement. That's no longer necessary. Start by firing up your genealogy software and export your tree as a GEDCOM file, making sure you know where it's saved on your computer. Next, log into GenesReunited. Once there, on your "personal homepage" just below where is says "Hello (yourname), what would you like to do today?" there are three options. The last of which is "Upload Gedcom". It doesn't look like it, but it is a clickable link. You will then go to the import/export page. Select "Import Gedcom" and a new window opens (make sure your pop-up blocker, if you use one, doesn't stop it coming up). In this new window click the "Browse..." button and use the requester to navigate to the gedcom file you just saved. Click "Open" (or whatever your requester says) and then click the "Import file" button on the web page. You'll be warned not to close the window until the transfer is complete. When the transfer completes, you'll be told, and you can then close that window. GR's software then process the GEDCOM, and once done, sends you an email saying that your new tree is in place. There. All done. It's always seemed (to me) such a simple thing to do. However, when you have to write out an explanation, it often proves that it _isn't_ always easy. I do hope my explanation makes sense. If not, feel free to contact me directly. -- Regards _ / ) "The blindingly obvious is / _)rad never immediately apparent" Dream on white boy, dream on black girl Original Sin - INXS
Hello Carol Are you wanting to upload a Gedcom or are you wanting to add each person individually. If it is by Gedcom then Brad has answered that for you. But if is the other way, near where Brad mentioned about the Upload Gedcom button is the Add Relatives button, that will take you to your tree, it will open in another screen (at least it does with me). Then you can add or change your details, remember to click on the 'save' button to save each person as you go. With the living people, what I have done is put the word 'living' in both the First name and Surname fields. To add your parents, simply click on the Add father or Add mother buttons, the same with your sibling and your partner, remembering to save each person as you go. Then as you have finished a generation you add the next generation. Although time consuming, this way you are only adding Exactly what you want others to see. I do hope this helps.
