Hello Maggie, The IOW FHS has a wonderful website with surname-searchable BMDs. http://www.isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk/ Just click "BMD Index in Progress" on the left. There is a Charles CHESSELL birth with a JACOBS mother in 1884 (Cowes distr, C3/E334). You can use this reference to order the certificate from the IOW Register Office, or get the GRO reference and order it from there. In a quick glance, I don't see a marriage for Charles and Alice but you can take a look yourself. Hope this helps.
