    3. ............................................. Dear Sandra May I suggest to Sandra and all who have been affected by the wars that you place your remembrances on the BBC remembrance site.  There is a facility to add photos and memorials. bbc.co.uk/remembrance Regards Pat The media seems to be emphasing how the wars affected every family and I record here just some of my grandparents' immediate relatives who hailed from Southampton and environs. World War I My Grandfather, Harry FOSKETT, who served in the Royal Navy and died of "Dementia" in 1920 at the age of 34, leaving a widow and five children.  The symptoms came on after serving on HMS Agincourt at the Battle of Jutland. Recorded on the Cenotaph in Southampton and Winslow Memorial in Buckinghamshire. His brothers Levi and Frederick both served but returned safely. My Grandmother's brother Owen PICKETT, was killed in France in 1918 and is recorded on the Southampton Cenotaph.  Her other brothers served in the RN (Ernest PICKETT), Air Force (Harry PICKETT) and Army (Samuel PICKETT) and they returned home. My Grandfather Leonard Charles MABEY, served in the RN and came home safely. My Grandmother's brothers, Percival, William and David MORANT, all served in the army and returned safely.  William was injured in the trenches and was mentioned in despatches.  Her first cousins Henry MORANT and Lionel MORANT were killed and are on the Southampton Cenotaph. Although most of the menfolk served in the armed forces during WW2, the only casualty was my Grandmother's brother Ernest PICKETT who died in the mercantile marine.  However, civilian casulaties in Southampton were high.  "Laddie" PICKETT was blown up when Supermarine was bombed and my other grandmother's first cousin Philip MORANT was killed in a bombing raid along with his wife and six of his seven children when their house took a direct hit at Hedgend in 1941. I will remember all of them on the 11th November.
