Hi Geoff, Many thanks for your reply. Can I please ask where you sourced the information you have given me? According to the IGI my 3rd great grandparents John and Elizabeth VENTHAM had at least 4 children:William 1810 )Elizabeth 1811 )Mary 1813 ) all three baptised at Binsted, Nr. Alton John 1819 My direct descendent. Baptised at Harting, Sussexand James 1823 Also baptised at Binsted, Nr. Alton. According to the 1841 census only John 1819 and James 1823 were still living at home at Brockhampton, Havant, with parents John and Elizabeth VENTHAM. Another clue as to why I think my James 1823 Binsted, is the same person as James 1821 Petersfield, is that brother William became a police officer, as did the James (1821) Petersfield. Also, I can only find my James (1823) on the 1841 census and although I have found James (1821) Petersfield on all census' from 1851 to 1901, I can't find him on the 1841 census. However, you state you have found a burial for a James VENTHAM, 21st March 1830 at Alton aged 6 yrs. This age matches my James' birth!!!!!!! So very confusing; I don't know where to make further checks to prove or disprove my theory.
