Hi List, I wonder if someone could tell me what kind of "Institution" was at 172-174 Commercial Road, Portsmouth in 1911. My grandfather was in the Royal Navy and I wonder if it was some kind of hostel for land-based sailors? Thank you Brian. I wonder if there is any significance that the place was called Royal Sailors? My grandfather was a stoker on board the Royal Yacht "Victoria and Albert" at the time and I wonder whether this place was where the crew stayed when not on duty.
