Hi, We have just proved that my husband's grandmother was married from 15 Nelson Avenue, North End, Portsmouth in 1911. I wonder if anyone can tell me whether the numbers of the houses have changed since then and if it is possible sks could send me a photograph of the house. I would be extremely grateful. I would also be interested to hear from anyone who is researching this Jacobs family: She is listed on the 1911 census as Louise Jacobs, born Hilsea, Hampshire, was registered and baptised as Emily Louise but calls herself Lucretia on her marriage certificate. The details she gives of her father George a gardener tie up and we have found the family in all the census. The name change, which is also on her death certificate is a mystery. George Jacobs, her father was born at Westbourne Sussex, the son of James Jacobs and Mary nee Atherley. Harriet, her mother was born at Durrants, Hampshire the daughter of James Baker and Sarah nee Hammond Thank you for reading Liz.
