Lokking for any help or info on the following:- BUTLER family - Bridgemary/Fareham/ Alverstoke - 19th century & earlier. In particular:- Henry BUTLER - born abt. 1845 - Fareham, Hants Kate BUTLER (wife) - born abt. 1855 - Edinburgh William (son) - born 1877 - Co Durham Nora (daughter) - born 1886 - Sialkot, India Mabel (daughter) - Born 1892 - Fareham, Hants I believe Henry was in the Army - they seemed to have moved around a lot and, as yet, I have not been able to find them all together in the same place! I would be interested to hear from anyone with info about Nora and/or Mabel - and also from someone who knows about military history which might account for the family's movements. Thanks in advance for any help Jane
I have a book on Sway which is near to Lymington and there are quite a few mentions of KITCHER/KITTIER there as part of the Rev Comyns travels. At present I cannot get at it as it is upstairs and I am awaiting installation of a stair lift. But If you would like to see them I can scan them later for you and send you them when I can access the upper circle!! Here's another 2 of my names: My GGG Grandmother is Hannah MARSHALL born 1782 in Selborne. Her parents were George Marshall (1753)and Audrey BARTHOLOMEW (1762)who lived in Froxfield though marrying and both being baptised in Selborne. Hannah MARSHALL had 3 siblings baptised at Froxfield: James (1786), George (1788) and William (1800). George born 1788 seems to have moved to Chichester, several of his Grandchildren being born in Bepton, Sussex. I think James appears in Petersfield on the 1841 census but this is tentative and I could be wrong. I have no idea yet what happened to William. My brickwall - what happened to Audrey MARSHALL nee Bartholomew? I can find no trace of her after 1800, I believe her husband George was buried in Froxfield in 1834 but I can't find a burial for her. Regards, Judy
Here's the first of my Hampshire names: JEFFERY - Medstead and possibly Micheldever. My GG Grandfather is Henry born 1823 s/o Paul Jeffery and Hannah Marshall.Paul born 1776 being the s/o James Jeffery and Mary Budd. James was born in 1739 if his burial age is correct, this makes it likely that he is the James Jeffery born 1739 in Micheldever. A few Jeffery researchers think the 1733 James Jeffery of Alton is a better fit as Alton is closer. Judy
Basingstoke/surrounding area (not sure of any connections with Kingsclere) - any period. Possibly arrived in Basingstoke from Thatcham, Berkshire. Hi Listers I just go to the menu at the top of the email (or Word Document etc) and click on "Insert" and "Symbol" and if needed "Character". I've found everything I need there. (Living in Australia with dollars, I often need to insert the £ symbol.) Incidentally I use Thunderbird for mail (and Mailwasher to screen incoming mail) so I don't know if it works for everything. In Word Documents it depends on what fonts you have, how many different types of symbols you can get. Best wishes Sandy

Brothers William Patrick [1875], John Edward [1880], and Thomas James [1884], all born at Winchester. Parents, Patrick QUINN [1837-1898] and Mary Ann née HUGGINS [1839-1902]. The father, Patrick, was born in the county Clare, Ireland -- I have *no further information* on him. William Patrick and John Edward emigrated to British Columbia, Canada some time before 1901. Have traced their move to California, USA, etc. Last sighting of the youngest brother, Thomas James QUINN, was in the 1891 England census, when the family lived in St Bartholomew Hyde parish, in Winchester. Margaret Matilda TYNAN née HUGGINS - born in 1847 on the island of St Helena - married to Thomas Tynan [1835-1884]; no children - last sighted in the 1901 census, living with sister, Mary Ann QUINN, at No. 5, Victoria Road, Winchester After Mary Ann died in 1902, I lose track of Margaret. If you're on windows, click start > Run and type in charmap then hit return (Or find the character map program in the start menu) It'll show you all the symbols and characters within each font, which you can then copy/paste as required Tony Dianne Ellis wrote: > Hi!
