Is anyone on list able to assist with any information on either the of the above. Looking for information on a Thomas Arthur COOPER or came to Australia early 1920's and settled near Kerang in Victoria naming his property DUMMUR GRANGE supposedly after his old 'Hampshire Manor House Farm' (quote from a letter dated 1931). Many thanks Jennifer In OZ

I'm keen to learn more about my gt.gt. grandfather Charles HUNT who was the son of Arthur HUNT and Sarah GUBBINS. Charles was born in March 1849 at 5 St. John's Street, St. Mary, Southampton - his father's occupation was that of Ostler. Perhaps someone has come across this family or be kind enough to look up the census of 1851 to see if they are still at the address. Most grateful for any help! Margery

I have searched extensively for my 3X Great Grandfather Edward or Edmund LEFEVRE"s birth/baptism record in the Portsmouth area with out success. But I have now found a rather prominent family of LE FEVRE and wonder if this is the Portsmouth connection. Edward spent his adult life in Southwark and Bermondsey,London according to the Birth Marriage and Death records I have found,he is also listed with his extensive family on the 1851/61/71/81 and his widow is on the 1891 Census for Southwark. On his marriage certificate he gives his fathers name as Thomas LEFEVRE a silk weaver and on the census records he appears to have been born in 1800/01 and on all the census returns he gives his birthplace as Portsmouth. In 1826 I found that a Samuel LE FEVRE esq was Mayor of Southampton and that previously he had held a position as a Customs Inspector also a W.J.LE FEVRE esq was elected as a junior bailiff at the same time as Samuel was chosen as Mayor. Can SKS on the list help me find out more information on this family of LE FEVRE?? Carole in Ontario,Canada

This i think is my John LEECH born 1791 Bidden Farm, Upton Grey married to Mary TWYNAM of Whitchurch in approx 1811. I have googled on the name and bought up a lot about conservation of the area but any info that anyone can give me would be much appreciated. One of his children was born in Upton Grey in 1815 and the other in Odiham in 1813 but he came into alot of money in 1818 and 1821 so it would be interesting to see if this was indeed him. In 1841 he was in Surrey at Lea House, Witley with his cousin but no sign of his family, i have no idea of where he was between 1815 and 1841. It would appear my last message may have been too long. I am seeking more info on the THUMWOOD family of BASINGSTOKE who connect to our WRIGHT line in BRUTON Somt. In BASINGSTOKE there were at least two WILLIAM THUMWOOD concurrently in the mid 19th Cenetury. One born c 1801 (our line) and another born c 1816. Were these two cousins? There children had similar names - George, James & William. Did the 1801 William have any daughters? To see what we already have, see our Family Web Site at: www.payman.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk - details are in Other English Counties/Hampshire. Any feedback would be appreciated. Hi Listers Wondering if anyone can help me with this small problem? I'm trying to find the marriage of my 4 x great grandfather Thomas MAY and a woman called Betty. They lived in Romsey from at least 1802 as their son (my 3x great grandfather William) was born there. According to the 1851 census, Betty was born in Kings Somborne about 1781. As I can't find the marriage anywhere in Hampshire on IGI, I thought I'd look to see if I could order a film through my local FHC. However, although info on the internet says Kings Somborne is a parish, I can't find it in the Family History Library Catalogue. I'm confused - can anyone clarify this for me? Many thanks Lindsay Eaton Wellington New Zealand
Lindsay, King's Somborne is listed in the Family History Library Catalogue under the incorrect spelling Kings-Sombourn. The LDS Church has not filmed the registers. However, the Family History Library holds microfiche copies of some of the registers (references 18M70/PR2, PR3, PR5, PR6, PR9, PR11, PR12). These were probably purchased from the Hampshire Record Office. HRO also sells microfiche to individuals. You can see the period covered by each of the registers (18M70/PR2 etc) by finding the references in the Hampshire Record Office Catalogue on the web. I would be grateful if someone with access to the 1851 census of Soberton/Fareham would take the time to try and find the following family for me: Henry/Harry Matthews b. c. 1825 Soberton, Ag lab, Mark, b.c. 1848, Soberton, (with possibly) Elizabeth, b. c. 1816 Soberton. The family were living in Soberton in all the census from 1861 to 1891. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Jan
Lindsay, The Mormons have not filmed every parish. Familysearch only lists those parishes which they have filmed. A better guide to the parishes of Hampshire can be found at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/HAM/indexpars.html If you cannot get to the Hampshire Record Office where the original registers are now stored, you can usually buy microfiche of Hampshire Parish registers from the Record Office http://www.hants.gov.uk/record-office/index.html HTH Sandra.
